Aktuelles zur internationalen Lubicon Cree Kampagne – Der Chief der Lubicon Cree, Bernard Ominayak, reagiert auf die Miss- und Falschinformation des kanadischen Indianerministers

Schon 1991 hat der kanadische Autor, John Goddard, in seinem Buch „Last Stand of the Lubicon Cree“ Folgendes bemerkt:

Below  (“Projekte”, Kanada, Lubicon Cree; Anmerkung: Peter Schwarzbauer) is a copy of Chief Ominayak's response to a form letter on Lubicon land negotiations being sent to Lubicon supporters by Indian Affairs Minister Andy Scott. Scott's form letter, in this case to Lubicon Legal Defence Fund Trustees White and Kaplansky, is also included below.

The Chief's letter outlines Lubicon positions and views on Lubicon land negotiations and concludes with Lubicon proposals regarding recommencement and conduct of Lubicon land  negotiations. The Chief's letter is a cover letter to a package of materials sent to Minister Scott. Available at http://www.tao.ca/~fol/Pa/negp/po04map/po050513.htm  the package sent to the Minister contains material which gives a birds-eye view of what actually transpires at the negotiating table as distinct from the way negotiations are described in self-serving form letters.

The package of documents also includes Secret Justice Department "Guidelines to  Federal Self-Government Negotiators" effectively instructing  self-government negotiators how to negotiate in bad faith and to subvert  Constitutional recognition of the inherent Aboriginal Right of  Self-Government. The Lubicon people did not obtain these "Guidelines" until  December of 2003 after negotiations had broken down. Taken together with  the description of what actually transpires at the negotiating table  it is  clear in retrospect that federal negotiators were using these "Guidelines"  as their script in self-government negotiations with the Lubicon people.

Lubicon supporters are urged to write and/or email Prime Minister Paul Martin and Federal Indian Affairs Minister Andy Scott at the following addresses expressing outrage over the way federal negotiators have been conducting Lubicon land negotiations and supporting Lubicon proposals regarding recommencement and conduct of Lubicon land negotiations. Specifically, supporters should ask that the Government of Canada renounce  the bad faith approach outlined in the "Guidelines" and instead  send a negotiator with a mandate to negotiate a full and fairsettlement of  Lubicon land rights in good faith.
