 Floyd Red Crow Westerman died on December 13th 2007 in Los Angeles with family and friends on his side.

13.09.2007 The UN- Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was passed by the UN General Assembly
On Thursday,  13th of September 2007, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples recieved approval from the United Nations General Assembly, which is a big step towards recognizing indigenous peoples rights, especially the right to self-determination on an international level.

Canada's new Prime Minister and the Lubicon Cree Nation
Still in opposition, the new Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper and his Minister of Indian Affairs Jim Prentice criticized how the government  handled the Lubicon Cree Case and called for a quick solution to the case. As the new Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper would now have the possibility to do better. Support the Lubicon Cree and ask the new Prime Minister to solve the case and to resume negotiations!

Kee was very active on an international level and well known also in Europe for his work on Big-Mountain, on the UN-Working Group for Indigenous Populations (WGIP) and public-speaking circuits. Kee Watchman

Instead of a obituary, we let him speak in his own words- in form of a Statement he delivered at the UN- Human Rights Commission in Geneva in 2003.
 

Five Young Shuswap Indians (Secwepemc) Arrested Due to Civil Resistance in British Columbia

 
Five young Shushwap Indians got convicted by the Surpreme Court of British Columbia on June 16th 2005. Reason for that was the repeadetly participation on different street blockades against the illegal expansion of the ski area "Sun Peaks Ski Resort" on their traditional land where treaties were never ceded. More on that in the Internationalen Statement of June 16th 2005 from the Secwepemcul’ecw Traditional Peoples Government.
